Growing Sailors Is Closed For 2025

Growing Sailors – ages 6-7

$450 – 8 day session M-Th

July 7 – July 31

Introduction to boats, safety, and weather through fun games and art.

Through exploration on and off the water students will increase their knowledge of Rockport Harbor and develop a sense of confidence in water-based activities.  They will learn about life jackets and what it feels like to float in them. Students will learn basic sailing knots.  The club’s JC9s will be available to practice rowing to Rockport Harbor destinations! The skills they learn in Growing Sailors will help them transition into the Beginning Sailing JC9 class in the future.

Growing Sailors is a safe and comfortable introduction to boats, the water, and many sailing related topics with active engagement both on land and on the water.

Children will comfortably increase confidence balancing on wobbly docks, boarding and rowing boats and floating in life jackets as they explore their surroundings.

Rockport Harbor and Andre the seal will offer a wealth of experiences including:  a bit of history, exploration of boat types, the workings of a harbor and glimpses into what sea creatures live under our boats.

Each Session will include:

Tides, Currents, Buoyancy, Displacement, Winds, Weather, and the Study of Marine Creatures; just to name a few.

Come and enjoy the fun.
